ABOUT

Lydia Gentry

Voted "Favorite Local Up and Coming Musician" by Southeast Missourian

Dragoness is a solo music project by Lydia Gentry, a classically trained violinist tuned to a different amplitude-- rock music featuring vocals, electric violin, and live looping, based in the area of Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Many have described Gentry's style and voice as a mix of Florence + the Machine, U2, Muse, Rush, Janis Joplin, as well as being inspired by the sounds of psychedelic rock, indie alternative, and Americana. Gentry is a proud wielder of the Viper, a six-stringed violin handcrafted by the Wood Violins company.

Lydia is currently pursuing a career in music at Belmont University, located in Nashville, Tennessee. When she's home from school, she can be seen quite often throughout the summer or winter in Downtown Cape and its surrounding area, whether at coffee shops, farmer's markets, or on the streets themselves.

She first released the singles, "Subdivisions" and "Limelight", both originally performed by Rush in 2017 and 2018 respectively as a distraction from high school and then completed her debut EP, "Exit 99", a mix of original and cover songs, which was released in April 2018. Lydia now fronts the psychedelic hard rock band Gentry Blue, which she created in the fall of 2018 based out of Nashville, Tennesee, and remains her main project.

Gentry can provide acoustic or electric violin for your musical concept, idea, or perform for your event, house concert, or business.
